Understanding Your Child’s Assessment Journey
At Stanton Road Primary School, we see assessments as a helpful tool, not a reason to worry! They play a vital role in our teaching, allowing us to carefully measure the progress and attainment of our learners. By understanding exactly where each child is shining and where they might need a little extra support, we can ensure they are fully confident and prepared for their transition to secondary school. Each term we run an Assessment Fortnight testing Reading, Writing, Maths and Grammar which helps us identify where our children are in their learning and what next steps we need to take.
Throughout their time with us, your child will complete a statutory assessment journey. These are simply key national milestones (such as the Phonics Screening Check or SATs) designed to check how they are developing at different stages of primary school.
We know that the word ‘assessment’ can sometimes feel daunting, but we are here to support your child—and you—every step of the way.
