This year, our learners will embark on a fantastic journey of discovery with Miss Morton, Mrs Harvey and Miss Williams. Our curriculum is shaped around exciting half-termly “Big Ideas,” ranging from Traditional Tales and Celebrations to exploring Weather, People Who Help Us, and even Space and Travelling the World. By diving into these engaging topics and exploring big enquiry questions, the children will develop a deep love for learning, reading, and exploring the world around them.
Building strong foundations for our learners is key to everything we do. We place a huge focus on Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, supporting the children in building positive relationships, self-regulation, and learning to manage themselves independently. Through activities like ‘My Happy Mind’ sessions, social stories, and collaborative play, we help our children build resilience, understand their feelings, and embrace new challenges with confidence.
Ultimately, our time in Apple Class serves as a vital bridge into Year 1. As the children progress through the year, we gradually encourage more independence, responsibility, and problem-solving skills. By our final Summer term, a key focus becomes answering the question, “How can I prepare for my journey into Year 1?”. By nurturing their natural curiosity, we ensure that every child is equipped with the skills, confidence, and readiness to take their next big step in school smoothly.
