Welcome to Laurel Class!
Mrs Tonge is absolutely delighted to welcome you and your children to a fantastic new school year! Laurel Class is a very special mix of Year 3 and Year 4 learners, which creates a wonderful, collaborative environment where we can all support one another to grow and succeed.
This year, our curriculum is bursting with incredibly exciting topics! We will be travelling back in time to explore the Stone Age and the Romans—bringing history to life with immersive workshops—as well as learning about the dramatic volcanic eruption of Pompeii. In Geography, we will be stepping outside for exciting fieldwork right here in Bebington Village. Our reading and writing will be inspired by captivating texts such as There’s a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom, Leon and the Place Between, and Escape from Pompeii.
We also have plenty of hands-on experiences planned across the curriculum. In Science, we will investigate rocks, light, and the human skeleton. Our creativity will shine in Art and DT as we study famous artists like Picasso and Monet, bake seasonal crumbles, and even design our own Roman purses and pop-up books. Musically, we will be learning to play the ukulele and will even enjoy a very special trip to the Liverpool Philharmonic!
Because Laurel Class blends two year groups, it offers a wonderfully supportive and gentler way for our children to navigate lower Key Stage 2. For our Year 3 learners, it provides a nurturing environment to build their confidence and prepare for Year 4 at a steady pace. For our Year 4 learners, it is a fantastic space to begin taking on more leadership roles within the classroom, developing the independence, maturity, and personal responsibility needed in readiness for Year 5.
We work closely with our families to ensure that every child learns at a pace that is just right for them, building resilience and a true love for learning as they take these important next steps. We cannot wait to get started!
