In Foundation Stage 2, our curriculum has been carefully designed to ensure that our children learn, flourish and are kept healthy and safe. Communication and language development lies at the heart of our Early Years curriculum, providing our children with the vocabulary and language needed to express themselves and communicate with others. Throughout the year, children will develop knowledge and skills on which they can build throughout their school life at Stanton Road. Opportunities to understand our local area and the people within our community are threaded throughout the Foundation Stage 2 curriculum.
Foundation Stage 2 is filled with exciting and enjoyable learning opportunities, to inspire our children, encourage them to explore and ask questions and equip them with a lifelong love of learning. Our curriculum provides stimulating learning opportunities, to ensure that children are motivated and deeply engaged in their learning within our indoor and outdoor environments.
Our curriculum consists of a balance of child initiated and adult led activities, promoting opportunities to learn through play. We embrace opportunities to extend our children’s learning further, by adapting our curriculum based on the interests of our children and our community.
We work closely with our parents and carers to make sure that each child is happy, safe and confident and develops skills of independence both at home and in school.
Phonics
Daily phonics sessions following Read Write Inc will take place to ensure children become accurate, confident successful readers. Reading books closely matched to children’s phonics ability will be sent home each week.
