at Stanton Primary School
If children eat better, they feel better, play better and work better. At Stanton Road Primary School, our healthy eating policy is carefully designed to ensure all children enjoy access to a nutritional and carefully balanced diet whilst on school premises.
Our suppliers – Hutchison Catering, have the following approach:
Our Food Explorers concept is designed to link nutritious fresh food with fun learning around the farm to fork journey. Our Food Explorer events are planned through out the academic year providing interactivity with new flavour discoveries, healthy eating and worldwide food facts. Designed to engage all stakeholders and drive meal up take we focus on assisting advancement of food education that can be a great value-added tool for lesson plans all at the centre of the Hutchison Catering offer.
Nutrition is at the heart of the menus that we develop at Hutchison Catering. We wholeheartedly aim to provide a balanced diet that is not only nutritious but also engaging with our young customers. We can deliver Food for Life accreditations across schools and Multi Academy Trusts whether this is Bronze, Silver or Gold; we will meet your needs. This means all our meat is Red Tractor, all our fish is sourced from sustainable sources in line with MSC guidelines, eggs are free range, fruit and vegetables come from LEAF accredited suppliers and we also use Fairtrade products wherever possible.
At Stanton Road Primary School our healthy eating policy is carefully designed to ensure all children enjoy access to a nutritional and carefully balanced diet whilst on school premises.
UNIVERSAL INFANT FREE MEALS
If your child has moved up to year 3 they will no longer be eligible for Universal infant free school meals, therefore you will need to advise us if they will require a school lunch.
Each meal will cost £2.50 and payment is through Arbor. If you do not have login details, please contact the school office.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS
Parents/Carers are entitled to get free school meals/milk for their children if they receive:
Income Support
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Guaranteed Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit with a total annual taxable income of less than £16,190 and are NOT receiving Working Tax Credit
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
We ask all parents to complete the Free School Meal application form. The information provided will be used by the school to check whether or not you are entitled to Free School Meals. It will also mean if your circumstances change - even for just one day - it will automatically identify your eligibility. Registering could not only potentially provide your child with free healthy meals every lunchtime, but also raises an additional £1,320 for the school to offer pupils invaluable additional support, additional equipment and individualised resources and to fund extra school activities, such as clubs and visits.
We are aware that some families do not register for Free School Meals as children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 already receive Universal Free School Meals, however, if your child is eligible, the £1,320 grant money will still go to the school for the purposed noted above. To check whether your child is eligible, we ask that you please complete the form and return it to the school office, where we will be able to carry out the check for you.
Cool Milk
Our school milk scheme
Did you know our school has a school milk scheme?
By registering your child for our school milk scheme they will receive a 189ml (third of a pint) carton of semi-skimmed milk every day. This is delivered fresh and chilled to their classroom every day.
“How much does it cost?”
Thanks to government subsidies, school milk is free for all under-fives and is subsidised at around £15 a term for children aged five or older.
“Why should I register my child?”
School milk provides your child with essential nutrients such as calcium and protein, for strong, healthy teeth and bones. It is also rehydrating and energy boosting, helping to bridge the long gap between breakfast and lunch so children stay focused.
